Questions

Common questions about learning a language here

Which languages can I learn here?

Vocabulary lists and practice are available for English, Chinese, Indonesian, Russian and German. Spanish and Italian currently have introductory guides only; their dictionaries, flashcards and vocabulary tests are not available.

Where should I start if I am a complete beginner?

Open the language page you need, start from a frequency or A1 topic list, and learn each word from its own page with translation, examples and pronunciation support. Then repeat the list in Learn mode.

How many words a day should I learn?

Ten to twenty new words a day is a realistic pace for most learners, provided you also review older words. Spaced repetition matters more than the size of a single session.

Do I need an account to read the vocabulary pages?

Word pages, topic lists and word comparison pages are readable without an account. An account is what stores your saved words, progress and repetition schedule.
