able, capable, qualified, competent 的区别
Able 表示能够做某事：able to help；capable 常用 capable of helping，a capable person 指能干的人。Qualified 看资格或准备，competent 看是否胜任工作。
able = 能够，常用 able to do；capable = 有能力，常用 capable of doing；qualified = 符合资格；competent = 胜任。

able = 能做这个动作。
I won’t be able to join the meeting tomorrow.
我明天不能参加会议了。
Users are able to reset their passwords online.
用户可以在线重置密码。
不要把 able 直接当成“优秀/专业”。able teacher 不等于“好老师”，更自然的通常是 qualified teacher 或 competent teacher。
如果后面自然接 to help、to work、to speak、to access，通常就可以用 able。
capable
Capable 表示能力；常用 capable of doing something，不是 able 的“加强版”。
She is capable of handling pressure and making hard decisions.

competent
competent = 够专业，能把工作做好。

她是一位称职的老师，学生进步很稳定。
He is competent at managing budgets.
他很擅长管理预算。
不要把 competent 理解成“特别厉害”。它通常只是正面但克制的评价：合格、可靠、可用，不一定是顶尖。
问自己：这个人能不能在不被一直盯着的情况下把事做好？如果答案是“能”，就很适合 competent。
常见错误
很多中文学习者会把这四个词都理解成“有能力”。其实 qualified 重点不是“能力强”，而是“有资格”；competent 重点也不是“天赋”，而是“工作表现合格、可靠”。
